NRTL
Your passport to the North American electrical safety market
What is a NRTL?
Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories, or NRTLs, are third party organizations recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) under Federal code 29 CFR 1910.7 to provide product safety testing and certification services for products used in the US workplace.
In Canada, the Standards Council of Canada mandates that an SCC accredited Certification Body perform such services.
TÜV SÜD are appointed to certify products for both the US and Canada.
There are four steps which lead to the issue of a NRTL, these involve:
- Product Testing
- Report & sample reviewed by Technical Certifier
- Certificate Issued
- Regular factory surveillance visits conducted
A TÜV SÜD NRTL Certification makes it easier to sell products and to convince customers and enforcement authorities that you satisfy their minimum safety requirements.
TÜV SÜD in the UK can offer testing and certification for the following product types:
- Information Equipment (UL/CSA 60950-1)
- Laboratory Equipment (UL/CSA 61010-1)
- Domestic Audio/Video (UL/CSA 60065)
- Electric Heating Appliances (UL 499)
