Latest must-have children’s toy poses serious health risks
Consumer testing labs have found high levels of toxic chemical on this year’s top selling Christmas toy, Go Go Hamsters. The findings were broadcast this week after extensive research into the toys was carried out by experts at the University of California, however the manufacturer of the popular toy rejects this claim and insists that the toy is 100% safe and in compliance with all US and European toy safety standards. According to a US safety watchdog the Mr Squiggle Go Go Hamst
er is said to contain dangerous levels of a particular type of toxic chemical called antimony, which can potentially lead to serious health problems. The consumer testing lab, GoodGuide, has claimed the battery-powered furry animals have high levels of antimony on the toy’s nose and hair, which may be linked to cancer, lung and heart problems.
A Times Online article reported last week that the most recent safety tests performed on the popular Christmas toys confirmed that they fully complied with all health standards in Europe and the United States and therefore all previous claims have been dismissed.
Go Go Hamsters are now set to make a fortune this year after making 1.4 million in just 1 minute on Monday 7th December 2009.
