At Sandown, Safety Systems are launching a new service: ESPE Assessments. Where companies use electro-sensitive protection equipment such as light curtains and laser scanners, there is a requirement under PUWER and additional HSE guidance for them to be assessed on a regular basis.  Safety Systems can now offer this service which includes checking the stopping time of the machine and calculating the correct safety distance.

Laidler Associates will also be giving a daily presentation in the HSM Demonstration Zone, at 10.30am on 'Practical machinery safety including guarding issues'. Using its virtual reality system to re-create a typical working environment, Laidler is able to bring to life the problems that are present and demonstrate how to provide safe solutions. Laidler will also demonstrate how to complete and document a PUWER 98 assessment or CE Marking to the Machinery and Low Voltage Directives.
