TÜV Product Service's Medical & Health Services Manager, Henry Sibun will be speaking about labelling and packaging at the MEDTEC conference in Ireland on 22nd September 2010. He will also be chairing the first day of the three-day Medical Device Summer School on 8th September 2010 in London.
Henry's presentation at Medtec will cover how the packaging of medical devices perform several functions, from the protection of the device and the maintenance of a sterile barrier to the provision of instructions and warnings (as well as enabling the user to remove the device from its packaging in a simple and safe way when needed). The presentation will look at some of the key requirements for packaging and labelling as well as the challenges faced by medical device manufacturers. The presentation will touch on standards and regulatory expectations for packaging and labelling as well as validation of packaging shelf-life. Henry will also be available for consultations during the two day conference.
As well as chairing the first day of the Informa Summer School, Henry will present an overview of medical devices on the same day, including the definitions of a medical device, of a diagnostic product and of a combination product, understanding the difference between a device and a drug and the history and development of the regulations. The presentation will also cover the importance of the directives to medical device professionals in fulfilling their roles, an introduction to the directives and discussion on the relevance of standards and guidance information.
