TÜV SÜD: car scrapping scheme has not improved road safety so far
The most important results of the Auto Bild TÜV Report 2010 show that the rate of defects are up by one per cent to 17.6 per cent for the Porsche 911 and Mazda 2 type vehicles. TÜV SÜD, the largest German TÜV organization, contributed over 4.2 million data records to the report which was presented to the public at a press conference in Berlin on 17 December.
Experts are now worried that around nine million older cars with significant deficiencies could potentially be driving on German roads. So far, the offering of a brand new car through car-scrapping scheme has not been successful in reversing this trend.
