TÜV SÜD: 50 years of 'TÜV Sticker' devoted to vehicle safety.

  

Munich. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the 'TÜV Sticker', TÜV SÜD took a look at the statistics, examining the trends in defects found during roadworthiness testing over the past almost 20 years. The results showed that while in 1992 corrosion was the main obstacle to obtaining the coveted sticker, today other components such as lights, brakes and steering are heading the list. And the next challenges are already waiting in the wings. Today's testing catalogue already includes an increasing number of electronic systems, which will be tested with a specific device from 2012 onwards. Horst Schneider, Chief Officer MOBILITY of TÜV SÜD AG explains: "Increasingly complex vehicles and the use of electronic components to ensure vehicle and road safety emphasize the high significance of impartial third-party vehicle inspection."
