E-mobility: TÜV SÜD turns focus to battery safety

TÜV SÜD address a number of issues in this article including incomplete test standards, global safety standards, rear-end crash testing and how it is to be included in approval requirements, as well as information on the first crash tests with lithium-ion car batteries set to take place this autumn.

According to TÜV SÜD professionals, internationally binding standards are urgently needed to ensure the safety of electric mobility. This applies particularly to lithium-ion batteries as there is such a high risk involved in their useage. These risks are yet to be addressed by current test standards, and TÜV SÜD aim to change this through their implementation of the lithium-ion crash tests taking place later onthis year.
