  • Compliance Requirement Programme Management

  • Assessing customer Technical Files for compliance with the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive

What knowledge and skills do you need to do your job?
It is important to come to grips with what can be intimidating specifications and requirements documents whilst still maintaining a strong bond with those customers with which you are working.

Since joining the Technical Consultancy department I have achieved a good working relationship with customers based in Singapore.

Good time management is an advantage due to the number of different projects that you may be working on at one time. The fact that each job may be related to a different sector definitely keeps the brain stimulated!

What aspects of your role do you find the most rewarding?
Customer interaction and satisfaction. We are able to help the customer demonstrate compliance saving them time, effort and money.
It is rewarding to be a part of projects that are not broadcasted to the general public

How has your career developed with the Company?
My first experience of working for TÜV SÜD Product Service Ltd was during my BEng (Hons) Mechanical and Design Engineering Degree. My industrial placement year was spent in the commercial EMC testing department. I was testing a variety of commercial equipment including the latest mobile phones yet to be released on the market.

After being sponsored for my final year at university, I returned to the company on a graduate programme as an EMC Test Engineer this time in the Aerospace, Defence and Industrial (ADI) department. This gave me the opportunity to test some impressive equipment. This time the scope included secret communications equipment to military vehicles.

One year after testing responsibilities in the ADI department, I was successful in my application to the Technical Consultancy department and have been in my new role since July 2006. As part of my promotion, TÜV approached me with the idea of sponsoring me through a two year, part time Masters Degree which I accepted. My studies began again in October 2006.

What is it like working for TÜV SÜD Product Service Limited?
Whilst my time at TÜV SÜD Product Service is minimal in comparison to many of the other employees, I have enjoyed my time here and have developed both in knowledge and personality. The investment in my university studies is obviously a major benefit that was gratefully received.

I have always had a passion for the Aerospace & Defence sectors and am now gaining a lot of experience in the Rail and Nuclear industries helping me become a well rounded consultant.

Each department has strong relationships with each consisting of motivated and enthusiastic people. I would like to think that I know the names of each individual working for the company.
