TÜV Product Service works with the defence industry sector in the pursuit of compliant system performance and reliability, ensuring that systems operate as intended when placed within hostile military environments.
Management and planning
TÜV Product Service provides strategies for systems compliance involving bespoke design, military off the shelf (MOTS) or commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment. We also develop management and control plans.
Requirements management
We have expert knowledge of the latest standards for EMC and Environmental compliance testing. We produce test plans and compliance statements that minimise the amount of testing required, while ensuring that the testing is justified and that all risks are managed
Typical Standards – These include Def Stan 59-411, Def Stan 00-35, Def Stan 81-41, Def Stan 08-123, NES 814, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, SPE-J-1000, EN/IEC 60068, BS EN 60529.
Qualification, Verification and Analysis
Where analysis is used as evidence to support compliance, we use our industry respected ‘Gap Analysis’ technique to map the current level of compliance against the requirements. We are able to quickly identify critical gaps and advise on appropriate solutions and where possible, provide sound technical proposals to mitigate further testing.
We provide studies and threat analysis for Electromagnetic Environment Effects (E3), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), electromagnetic pulse (EMP), radiation hazards (RADHAZ), communication security (TEMPEST) and nuclear survivability.
Bidding for defence contracts
Bidding for defence contracts often requires detailed responses to a significant set of environmental and EMC requirements. Failing to understand the cost and technical implications of these requirements could lead to a non-compliant or ill-considered bid submission. There may be some surprises when you reach the qualification stage in the project. TÜV Product Service provides specialist support to bid teams to address the environmental and EMC issues, understand the risks and will get you an early appreciation of the cost of compliance.
Training
We offer a range of training courses in EMC, RADHAZ and Environmental Simulation. We can deliver these courses in our training facilities or at your own premises.

TÜV Product Service is an ISO 9001 registered consultancy, UKAS accredited for both permanent laboratory testing and in-situ site testing. We are an appointed EMC Notified Body under the EU EMC Directive.
