Course Overview:
This course is intended to develop an understanding of the requirements for Fixed Installations under the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive 2004/108/EC. Many large infrastructure projects will fall within the scope of the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive 2004/108/EC (enacted in the UK by EMC Regulations 2006 No. 3418) as a ‘fixed installation’.
There are now legal EMC requirements for fixed installations such as appointing a Responsible Person to hold technical documentation demonstrating the application of good engineering practices. These practices are needed in order to meet the essential requirements to prevent interference with radio reception and to ensure adequate immunity of the electrical and electronic equipment to electromagnetic noise in the environment.
The fixed installation requirements apply to new installations taken into service after 20th July 2007 and modifications made to existing installations after this date.
| Benefits of Attending: |
| Delegates will gain a good understanding of the EMC requirements for new and modified fixed installations and the processes adopted to make sure EMC is maintained throughout all stages of the project. Understanding these good engineering practises will help mitigate against potential cost and time implications if EMC is not addressed at the project’s outset. |
