Andrew Kern from TÜV Product Service Crowned Sainsbury’s Sporting Champion of London
Andrew Kern from TÜV Product Service has been named the Sainsbury’s Sporting Champion 
of London. The judges recognised that Andrew goes above and beyond the call of duty to engage local people in sport, specifically football. This is the first time the award has been presented and is part of Sainsbury’s fundraising efforts for Sport Relief this year.
As an official partner of Sport Relief, Sainsbury’s recognise thatby doing sport and having fun, everyone can do good and feel good.
Andrew impressed the judging panel as he has undertaken a personal challenge, showing enthusiasm and determination to increase the awareness of sport throughout London. Andrew gives up his Saturdays to manage a team of under nine year olds at Fleet Spurs Football Club. Andrew helps with fundraising for the Club and also arranges a yearly visit to a top London training ground for both players and parents.
Andrew has been awarded a cash donation of £500 that will be donated to the Fleet Spurs Football Club. Andrew’s donation will help improve the lives of people through the power of sport.
Andrew says: “I’m thrilled to have won the Sainsbury’s Sporting Champion Award and so pleased that all the sporting work I do in London has been recognised. The money will go to the club, which will really benefit from it.”
The nationwide search was inspired by David Walliams who really stepped out of his comfort zone to swim the English Channel in just 10½ hours, raising a whopping £1m for Sport Relief in 2006.
David Walliams says “It takes a huge amount of commitment and determination to rise to a tough personal challenge - but I also know what an incredible feeling it is to finally reach it. Well done! I’d urge other people to take inspiration from what Andrew has done and do a challenge for Sport Relief to help transform lives here in the UK and around the World.”
