Class D DSC Fixed Mount Marine Radios
Within the EU, Class D DSC fixed mount marine radios fall within the scope of the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) Directive. EN 301 025-2 and EN 301 025-3 are the appropriate harmonised standards to be used to demonstrate compliance with the essential requirements of the R&TTE. These cover Spectrum Usage and Access to Emergency Services respectively. Both standards refer to EN 301 025-1 for test methodology.
EN 301 025-3 V1.4.1 is the latest Article 3.3(e) harmonised standard as listed in the Official Journal. There are no other versions listed. This standard references EN 301 025-1 V1.5.1 which in turn references EN 300 338-3 for Operational Requirements. So Class D DSC radios must meet the operational requirements of EN 300 338-3 in order to be compliant with the R&TTE Directive and continue to be placed on the market. Manufacturers’ Declarations addressing the appropriate clauses of EN 301 025-3 may be included in the manufacturers’ Technical Construction File (TCF).
